Motivation in Turbulent Times – BPN Georgia Masterclass for Entrepreneurs

Expert Daniel Mather explaining motivation strategies during turbulent times to seminar participants, leadership and change management

For many, entrepreneurship is associated only with success, victory, independence, and good income, but in reality, along with success on the entrepreneurial path, great responsibility, tireless work, numerous challenges, difficulties, and sleepless nights are often the companions of an entrepreneur. However, this is a choice, and if this choice is well-thought-out and the distribution of forces and energy is done correctly, if responsibility is also well-thought-out, the above-mentioned victory, success, and good income also become a reality.

Life is not a plateau, it has its ups and downs. We have calm, happy, successful days, months and years, and periods full of challenges. This is precisely the charm of life. The challenge of a person is to maintain inner peace, motivation, be stress-resistant, strong and firmly grounded even in difficult times.

How do we fix this?

This is precisely the issue that was addressed at a meeting held at BPN Georgia for Georgian entrepreneurs under the title "Motivation in Turbulent Times" and its goal was to provide entrepreneurs, as leaders, with information on how to stimulate and strengthen motivation even when circumstances are not easy.

Since an entrepreneur is not only responsible for himself, there are countless people behind him – family, his team, customers, partners, his responsibility for his own motivation is even greater. However, we are all human beings, and what was discussed at the meeting is equally useful not only for entrepreneurs, but for any person.

The meeting was moderated by BPN Georgia's Swiss director, trainer and business consultant, Daniel Mather, who shared with the attendees practical approaches and simple but effective tools for times when things around us are not going as we want or imagined, and talked about how to maintain motivation and, consequently, stability in work and life beyond it during such times.

Among many other interesting topics, the key issues of the master class were:

  • Focus on what is controllable. We should direct our energy towards activities that we actually have influence over.
  • On finding opportunities in storms. There is opportunity hidden in every challenge. If we look at events with this approach, difficult times will take on a different meaning.
  • Setting realistic goals, breaking them down into small steps, on the one hand, protects us from burnout and on the other hand, helps maintain motivation.
  • Understanding your “why.” Having a vision, finding meaning in what we do, allows us to reach a state of Flow, which strengthens intrinsic motivation, which in turn is a source of sustainability.
  • Practical habits in everyday life. Discipline in one's own life, which leads to satisfaction, self-confidence, and desired results.

Success is not an accident, especially in turbulent times – it is the result of purposeful, thoughtful, disciplined action and intrinsic motivation. Small steps and well-thought-out, repeatable activities lead to results that also contribute to our motivation and become a source of motivation for the team, which in turn is a prerequisite for sustainable business development.
