The Akhmeta region is known for its ecologically clean environment, rich in water and good soil, so when the opportunity arose to purchase a plot of land in the region about 12 years ago, we purchased it and started cultivating hazelnut orchards.
Hazelnuts are a product for which demand is constantly growing, and agriculture is a sector that has great potential in our country, and I want to make a small contribution to its development with my experience. That is why I took up the cause with great enthusiasm, which was also interesting to me.
At the first stage, we started growing hazelnut orchards, the next step was a hazelnut processing factory that meets international standards. We also have our own agricultural equipment, and all this helps me to be a strong competitor to other hazelnut producers in the Georgian market, and most importantly, the scale of our business allows me to create many jobs for the local population.
Currently, 33-36 people are permanently employed at Doran LLC. The hazelnut business, as you know, is seasonal, so we additionally employ seasonal staff, approximately 72 people. These numbers may not be grandiose, but each job created in our country is of crucial importance. I would be happy if I could do even more in this direction.
We have faced many difficulties over the years, success is not easy to achieve, but my team and I do not spare energy and fight for it. The main thing is to detect errors, weak points in a timely manner and then take care of their correction and improvement. For example, low soil moisture in our gardens is a significant problem for hazelnuts, but we are fighting this by increasing the capacity of the irrigation system, we are also constantly concerned with increasing soil fertility, and most importantly, our constant and ultimate concern is the quality of our product.
My team and I have no illusions that we are the strongest, but we have a claim and want to be in a leading position in this field. My personal experience allows me to do this, and the company's existing technical base and the fact that it has its own facilities, its own processing plant, that is, the fact that the entire production process takes place in Doran LLC, are our great advantages.
I mentioned the difficulties and not by chance, as you can see, running a business is not an easy task. Along with practical experience, you constantly need to acquire theoretical knowledge, new information, learn, and take care of your own self-development. That is why I am glad to have met BPN Georgia, an organization whose cooperation allows me to do this.
